Monichino – Wines of Victoria
Carlo and Margaret Monichino started their lifelong dream of building a winery over 50 years ago. That was in 1962, and today Monichino is a family-run winery outride of Shepparton with a big focus on Italian culture and tastes. The culture still flows strong! Visit the Monichino Wines cellar door during a trip to Victoria and taste some of their wonderful creations. The spot is open from 11am-4pm Wednesday to Sunday, so you’ll have no problem finding a time to go. The kitchen is only open on weekends, but offers some great casual food (which of course must be paired with wine!). Kick back in the property’s garden and if you prefer, you can bring your own picnic hamper.
Melrose Farm and Vineyard
Settled in the late 1870s, Melrose is a farm in the vicinity of Shepparton; just 18 kilometres northwest. The original home still stands today. Whilst some parts of the property were sold off during the war, the current property is 55 acres in size and not only supports cattle but also a small orchard. That is what we are interested in here! One thousand Shiraz vines are picked by hand here and wine is made using traditional methods. Open vat fermentation, basket pressing and small oak casks are all part of the process. Drop into the cellar door, which is quaint and boutiquey in style.
The Shiraz Republic
Family-run The Shiraz Republic is a gorgeous 25-acre winery where you could quite literally spend hours on end, just admiring the scenery. Built in 2012, the cellar door has plenty of seating where you can kick back with a glass of wine and admire the views. At the bar, tastings are available as is a local craft beer (the property’s own) – Cornella’s Brewery craft beer. If you’re hungry, stay for a pizza from 11am every day, or if it’s just the wine you’re after, that’s okay too. Tastings here include vintages of estate-grown Shiraz wines, but also more recent releases such as Chardonnay & Rosé. Whatever it is that tickles your fancy, you’ll probably find a glass of it here.
Tallis Wine
Pop into Tallis Wine for warm hospitality, distinctive wines and tempting grazing platters. Not forgetting the great views! If you’re planning to visit, make sure you book online to ensure your place at the tasting bar. Tucked away in the Dookie Hills, this stunning little winery is only a short drive from Shepparton and offers panoramic vistas from just about wherever you choose to sit or stand. Using French and American oak barrels, you’ll taste some subtle influxes. Plus, this winery actually uses the hand plunging and foot trampling method at times. Come and try it for yourself!
Longleat Wines
Discover the essence of Longleat, nestled in picturesque Murchison, Victoria. Guido and Sandra invite you to their cellar door and cafe in the heart of the Longleat vineyard. Guido, a seasoned winemaker, crafts single varietal wines that reflect the vineyard’s unique site and growing conditions. Taste these exceptional wines and savor the intense varietal flavors, guided by Guido himself. Join them for a memorable wine experience at Longleat, where passion meets palate.
Tahbilk Winery

Tahbilk is renowned for its commitment to preserving heritage grape varieties, particularly Marsanne, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate’s stunning cellar door offers tastings of their exceptional wines, showcasing the unique terroir and craftsmanship that goes into each bottle.
