Tourist Attractions in Albany

The south coast of Western Australia is famous for its beautiful beaches and interesting attractions. In no particular order we have selected a variety of tourist attractions that are our Albany favourites! These amazing attractions are just a hop, skip and a jump away from the affordable hotel-style accommodation at ibis Styles Albany, located right in the heart of town.

Middleton Beach

Albany’s main beach, Middleton is the closest beach to the town centre and is one of the best places to escape to for swimming, long walks, picnics and possibly whale watching. Did you know that Middleton Beach was named after Captain Middleton in 1934? An ancestor of Kate Middleton now married to Prince William!

The Gap

The Gap is a new accessible viewing platform allowing visitors to stand 40 metres directly above the seas, allowing those brave enough to view the waves crashing against the granite coastline. Just a 15-minute drive from ibis Styles Albany, this is a tourist attraction you don’t want to miss out on!

Field of Light

A must for the bucket-list is to explore the Field of Light: Avenue of Honour in Albany, WA. An immersive art installation by Bruce Munro, pays homage to the Anzacs with 16,000 shining spheres at Mt Clarence. The installation is open for viewing from 4 October 2018 to 25 April 2019. To celebrated the introduction of the Field of Light, ibis Styles Albany have introduced the ‘Field of Light Package’!
