There are a few different ways to reach the world’s largest sand island, but the easiest and most popular is via Hervey Bay, the main gateway to K’gari. Whether you’re bringing your own 4WD, hiring one for the adventure, or simply hopping over as a walk-on passenger, getting across is simple and convenient.

SeaLink Ferry from River Heads
The SeaLink K’gari Ferry departs daily from River Heads (just outside Hervey Bay) to both Kingfisher Bay Resort on the west coast. The trip takes about 50 minutes and offers stunning views of the Great Sandy Strait along the way.
