A Family Holiday to Kangaroo Island

A Family Holiday to Kangaroo Island

We recently spent a week-long family holiday on Kangaroo Island, and we had a wonderful time. The island is a beautiful, unspoiled place with something to offer everyone.

We chose Kangaroo Island because we wanted to experience the natural beauty of the island and see some of the unique wildlife that lives there. We were not disappointed.

We drove from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island, which took about 2 hours. We then took the Kangaroo Island ferry from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw, which took about 45 minutes.

We drove from Penneshaw to the Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, which took about 20 minutes. The lodge is located in the American River Valley, overlooking the calm waters of Eastern Cove.

The lodge itself is very spacious and well-appointed and recently had a fantastic upgrade to bar and restaurant. The rooms are large and comfortable, with plenty of space for a small family. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom we had was spacious and clean. The lodge also has a swimming pool, tennis court, and games room.

The staff at the lodge were very friendly and helpful. They were always happy to answer our questions and make recommendations for things to do on the island. We especially appreciated the free pelican feeding, which was a great way to see these amazing birds up close.

We had a wonderful time exploring Kangaroo Island. We visited the Flinders Chase National Park, where we saw koalas, kangaroos, and wallabies. We also went wine tasting at some of the island’s award-winning wineries. We had a great time at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, where we learned about the island’s unique wildlife.

In addition to the activities mentioned above, we also did the following while on Kangaroo Island:

  • Hiked to the top of Mount Remarkable for stunning views of the island
  • Visited Vivonne Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia
  • Went kayaking in the crystal-clear waters of the ocean
  • Relaxed on the beach and enjoyed the sun and sand

We had a wonderful time on Kangaroo Island and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Here are some additional things we would recommend doing on Kangaroo Island:

  • Visit the Seal Bay Conservation Park, where you can see sea lions up close
  • Go whale watching in the winter months
  • Visit the KI Gin and spirits
  • Go wine tasting at some of the island’s award-winning wineries

My Favorite Thing to Do on Kangaroo Island

My favorite thing to do on Kangaroo Island was visiting the Flinders Chase National Park. The park is home to some of the most beautiful scenery on the island, including Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, and the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail.

Remarkable Rocks is a collection of granite boulders that have been eroded into strange and wonderful shapes over millions of years. Admirals Arch is a natural archway that is carved into the side of a cliff. The Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail is a 110-kilometer walking track that winds through the park, offering stunning views of the coastline and the rugged bushland.

I had a wonderful time hiking through the park and exploring the different landscapes. I saw kangaroos, koalas, and wallabies, and I even saw a few sea lions. I would definitely recommend visiting the Flinders Chase National Park to anyone looking for a beautiful and unforgettable experience

In summary

I would highly recommend a visit to Kangaroo Island. The island is a beautiful, unspoiled place with something to offer everyone. Whether you’re looking for stunning scenery, unique wildlife, or just a relaxing getaway, Kangaroo Island has it all.

I would also recommend staying at the Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge. The lodge is a great place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the island. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I had a wonderful time staying at the lodge, and I would definitely stay there again if I ever visit Kangaroo Island.

I hope you have a wonderful time on Kangaroo Island!
